The Board of Education held a routine meeting on Dec. 3, here’s everything you need to know.
The Board recognized the Girls Cross Country Team as 2024 State Champions. Athletic director Ryan Rubenstein recognized and introduced head coach Deb Revolta, runner Mia Sirois (Individual State Champion), and the rest of the team.
One of the district’s strategic objectives for the 2024-25 school year is Global Awareness. This falls under Future Readiness, a strategic priority. Its goal is to help students develop global awareness, cultural competence, cultural appreciation, an understanding of global issues, and global citizenship. This is achieved through travel/exchange programs, overseas placements, language instruction, and intellectual activities.
Following the approval of the 2024 referendum, Superintendent Dr. Winkleman introduced 220’s latest initiative: Transform 220. This initiative looks to secure, inspire and create. It will be documented on the Barrington 220 website, replacing Build 220.
The board was presented with a revised e-learning plan. The new plan advocates for more synchronous learning (zooms, common/collaborative assignments, Schoology discussions, office hours). It also ensures students are doing their assignments on the eLearning day. Students were previously allowed five days to complete their assignments and be counted as present for the day. The new plan stipulates attendance to be verified at the end of the day.
