It’s midnight. You have a huge math test tomorrow, and you just can’t wrap your head around the key concepts, causing you to stay up and get a grand total of three hours of sleep. Regardless of whether or not you failed the test, you think, there has to be a better way of doing this. That answer may be just around the corner.

Barrington Tutoring is a club that is currently in the process of becoming an extracurricular activity. It plans to serve as a way for students to become tutors and receive tutoring. The aspiring club’s president, sophomore Haroon Katamesh, will spearhead this process and help to make sure everyone gets what they need.

“The club will offer in-person and virtual sessions for various classes. Students can get tutored in almost all classes, including finance courses. Students can fill out the form on Instagram [@barringtontutoring],” Katamesh said.

The club already plans to utilize school resources and has planned out who will be the necessary sponsor.

“There may be funding for items such as school supplies or materials needed that are not already in school. Ms. [Heather] Graham has offered to help out with sponsoring,” Katamesh said.

The club will follow a rigorous schedule that makes sure students receive the necessary components and tutoring that they need.

“Students can choose to be tutored online at any time they would like, or receive sessions in school weekly. Specific timings are not yet known,” Katamesh said.

The club has high expectations and ambitions, but also wants to let students know that they will receive exceptional tutoring and will be headed by no additional cost, making sure any student can use it and is comfortable while doing so.

“This club is different from any other club in BHS because it is student-run. Even though there may already be similar clubs, Barrington Tutoring has one-on-one tutoring at no cost, with college students who have passed the courses previously with high grades,” Katamesh said. “Whether online or in-person, there will be a chance for students to receive higher grades in their classes.”

Barrington Tutoring hopes to be up and running very soon, so keep an eye out for those posters throughout the building and don’t miss the opportunity to save you some pre-test stress.

“Barrington Tutoring has submitted an application and is awaiting the school’s confirmation. Currently there are 20+ students interested, as well as 15 tutors ready to help,” Katamesh said.
