The World Language Honors Society Induction Ceremony occurred for students on March 19th. Being part of this ceremony signifies that a student has excelled in their language class. Being inducted into an honors society for your language class is a notable accomplishment.
Marta Constela is a Spanish teacher but also the sponsor of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honors Society) at our school., She is the director of all the Spanish Honors Societies in the state of Illinois.
“The purpose of this organization is to recognize high achievement in Spanish and promote interest in Hispanic studies and the Spanish language,” Constela says.
To qualify for the Spanish Honors Society, you must be enrolled in an honors Spanish course., You must maintain a 3.7 GPA in all honors Spanish courses and take a Spanish honors course for three consecutive semesters. 106 students were inducted into the Spanish Honors Society this year.
However, the induction ceremony was not just for Spanish students. It also included students from Latin, German, Chinese, and French honors classes. It is an equal honor and accomplishment for a student of any honors language class to be inducted within their respective society.
