The new and efficient way of learning

After COVID-19 hit the United States, many schools across the country shut down with a broad idea of E-Learning in place. When the 220 districts announced that all Barrington schools were being closed until April 7th, weight was lifted off of my shoulders. Not only could I fix my horrible sleep schedule, but I could also work on classwork at my own pace.

Since my classes are based on a blocked schedule, my classes are spread out. On Broncos day, I have STEAM classes and on Fillies day, I have my humanities classes such as English, History, and so forth.

With a blocked schedule, I’m able to work at my own pace without having to worry about finishing 6+ classes a day. Most of my work is due on the next Broncos/Fillies day, giving me two days to complete my assignments.

When I went to “regular” school, I would have to wake up at six am every weekday and sleep around one to two am. This was an ongoing cycle and on some days, I just wanted to give up.

At some point in the school year, I didn’t care if I missed an important day of learning because I was just that tired. I wouldn’t have any time for myself and would cry over assignments due the next day.

With E-Learning in place, I’ve been able to do my schoolwork on my own time as well as taking care of myself. I’m able to take breaks from time to time, and my teachers are a zoom call away. Although it can be frustrating to not have a teacher with me in the same room, I’m trying my best to take advantage of the technology around me.

Due to COVID-19, not only have I been able to spend more time with my family, but I’ve learned to manage my own time and become more responsible. I’m not saying what’s happening in the world right now is good, but this pandemic has taught me things other than to practice social distancing.
