It’s the little things

“The little things” showcases all of the small things, or events, in everyday life, that I think we should be grateful for. These are all things that people experience/have daily and are often taken for granted or forgotten by the chaos of life. Thanksgiving recently passed, but that does not mean the time to be grateful has too. These photos show the small events to be grateful for, because after all, it is the little things that count the most.

A violet night:

The sky is a beautiful, violet ombré, silhouetted by the dark shadows of the trees. The sky was cloudy all day but turned into a beautiful purple at night, showcasing the unpredictability of nature. Sometimes, people just need to look around to find the beauty hidden in something simple.

Hidden gem:

A chestnut horse peeks his head out from a little barn. This tiny horse pasture was tucked around, behind a biking trail. Many people may not notice this hidden gem at first, but all they need to do is look.

Golden:

The sun bursts through the tree branches, filling it with golden light. Golden hour refers to the period of time shortly before sunset, right when the sun fills the sky with a soft, orange-golden glow.

Candid connection:

My friends stand together, both laughing at something that one of us just said. Freshman best friends Sophia Gordon (left), Claire Rowley (right), and I were hanging out, enjoying a fun sunny November day.

“Hanging out with friends makes me happy because I can always count on them to make me laugh, and I love to bike with them!” Rowley said.

Night ride:

My sister, Lily Vieceli, drives me around, her face illuminated by the green street lights. Sophomore Vieceli (BHS 23) has been driving around as much as she can, appreciating the freedom after getting her license. She uses her car as often as possible.

“I love to drive because it’s fun, and I get to go on little adventures,” Vieceli said.

The art of others:

Dozens of intricately made Indian shirts hang together on the rack at Ginger Blossoms. Ginger Blossoms is an ethnic and traditional crafts store that sells rugs, furniture, clothing, and antiques hand-picked from all over the world. Walking around the store it is apparent how beautiful and unique different cultures are from all around the world, and how they all come together.

A quaint town:

The little town of Richmond sits thirty minutes away from Lake Geneva, it’s shops all open and waiting for customers. Passing by, people may be quick to neglect it, but looking around it is apparent just how much charm is filled within these little shops.

Family origins:

My family and I pose for a photo on our balcony in Positano, Italy. In 2019, my family and I traveled to the Amalfi Coast of Italy.

“I’m 100% Italian and it has always been my dream to bring my kids to Italy and show them where our ancestors came from. Being able to explore Positano with my children and family, eating the food, and going on boat rides made this one of my favorite trips,” Matt Vieceli said.
