The Barrington Broncos basketball team is heading into the playoffs after they closed the regular season with a 73-49 win over the Elk Grove Grenadiers on Feb. 17.
“We got off to a fast start and pretty much didn’t look back,” junior guard Darsh Poovanna said.
The win was due in part to senior forward Oliver Gray’s 20 points and junior guard Jackson Roberts’ 19. Other contributors included sophomore point guard Luke Loughlin, senior guard Evan Shechtman and Poovanna.
The victory brings the Broncos’ record to 11-14 heading into the postseason.
“I’m pretty confident in myself and the team. We’ve had one of the hardest schedules in the state, and we still managed to hold our own,” Poovanna said.
As the playoffs begin, the Broncos are focused on extending their season.
“Play as hard as we can and just win out,” Poovanna said about the team’s mentality heading into a potential season-ending game.
The Broncos’ first playoff game against Maine West will take place Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Palatine High School.
