The BHS Band is known for their performances at the school football games and at town parades. However, there is a lot more that goes on inside the ranks of the Band, as each member has been impacted by the Band in some way.
Junior Sarah Brown recounts that band has been a way for her to not only make friends, but also make memories. She also says that band allows people to explore hobbies, and learn how to work with a group through music.
Senior Mel Miller has been in both marching band and jazz band, and has learned skills that can be applied to anything, not just band. Miller’s favorite memory is pulling an April Fool’s prank with a fellow senior in the band room, where they flipped the orientation of the whole room.
Teacher Kevin Krivosik wanted to teach band because music had always been something he was good at, and through that, he got opportunities to teach other people. He highlights how the community has always been an aspect of the band that he’s loved, because it allows for people of different backgrounds to come together.
