Country music has many young artists on the rise, and Megan Moroney is one of them. With her third studio album released on Feb. 20, 2026, she continues to share songs about relationships, heartbreak, and personal development. Megan Moroney has been making music for longer than most know with her first single ‘Wonder’ coming out on Feb. 26, 2021. Although many know and love this song, her huge uprising in fame really came in 2024 when she released the album ‘Am I okay’ which she then toured from March 2025 to October 2025. This album was full of heartbreak which led to that being what she’s known for. However, Cloud 9 put a new twist on her reputation. Although many fans knew her before this, Cloud 9 is really changing her career.
Even from the title this album is different for Megan Moroney. She has many songs not focusing on heartbreak and instead things like friendship, self-image, and on the positive side of relationships. The title Cloud 9 symbolizes how happy she is and the title track adds on to that with lyrics like ‘It’s a long, long, way, way down, down to cloud 9’ saying she’s far above cloud 9 with how happy she is. She continues this theme with songs like Convincing and Wish I Didn’t, all focusing on the good of relationships and falling in love. Including powerful lyrics like “We ain’t in love, But damn, we’re convincing”, “And if someone wrote the script and this is it, I’d watch it over and over” and “I think I’m falling for you, don’t make me wish I didn’t”. Lyrics like these along with the rhythm and sound of the music allow for the songs to feel personal and soul-stirring.
However, she doesn’t only have this effect on the love songs, she also expresses a deep understanding of a girl’s mind. From lessons about self-confidence to the truth about the music industry she proves the stereotypes of ‘All she sings about is break-ups’ which she expressed in “Bless Your Heart” from Am I okay completely wrong. “Beautiful Things” is an extremely meaningful song to millions, and for good reason. The song focuses on many young girls lacking self confidence along with common struggles like feeling left out, experiencing doubt, and hearing lies. She acknowledges these struggles and provides reassurance through powerful lyrics and a slow, calm tempo. Secondly, “Liars & Tigers & Bears” zooms in on the harsh reality of the music industry. The lyrics, “Stay in your lane, but evolve and get better. If you sell your soul, we’ll help you break records. Love everybody, aren’t you all friends even the ones that we’ve pit you against” highlight this. But, she keeps many lyrics generalized allowing for anyone to relate to it. She focuses on the strict expectations of society with lyrics like “Speak your mind, but not too loud, Be sure of yourself, but never too proud Paint yourself pretty, but don’t do too much”. Overall, many love how these songs steer away from heartbreak and instead share powerful lessons everyone could use.
Finally, Megan Moroney kept things real by still including some heartbreak songs. “Wedding Dress”, “I Only Miss You”, “Waiting On The Rai’ all express a deep sense of longing for someone. She expressed how happy she was to have worked with Ed Sheeran on “I Only Miss You” in multiple interviews. She also admitted that the song touched her so much that after writing it, she called her ex. On the other hand, “Wedding Dress”. She originally teased the song back in 2022 but never fully finished writing it. The song blew up online and everyone insisted on her releasing it, so she settled on putting it on Cloud 9. “Truthfully, it doesn’t really fit the theme of the rest of the album. I included it on the album for my fans because I know they wanted it,” Moroney said, which takes us back to the fact that Cloud 9 is supposed to be happy. With this, the rest of the heartbreak songs on the album have a much faster tempo. ‘Who Hurt You’, ‘Stupid’, “Medicine” and “Change Of Heart” all still acknowledge the heartbreak, but focus on how it was the other people’s fault. Sending a message that it’s okay to be upset but know your worth.
In all, Cloud 9 has attracted millions of new fans. For the older fans, it’s amazing to see Megan Moroney finally in a better state of mind. And for everyone, there are some great lessons imbedded in this music; and of course amazing vocals and lyrics that everyone should experience scream singing at least.
