This school year, the RoundUp staff accumulated a number of awards for both our print magazine and online site through various Illinois journalism organizations. Select individual writers also gained recognition for specific pieces they’ve written throughout the year.
Individual Award Winners
- Senior Anshul Nadendla was awarded two Blue Ribbons for Feature Writing and Profile Writing by the Northern Illinois Scholastic Presss Association (NISPA)
- Sophomore Mia Rao was awarded a Blue Ribbon in Editorial Writing (page 12) and an Honorable Mention in Review Writing by NISPA
- Senior Ashley Carfora was awarded a Blue Ribbon in Blogger/Columnist (Story one, story two, story three) and an Honorable Mention in Sports Features (page 23) by NISPA
- Junior Greer Pease was awarded an Honorable Mention in Photography (page 15) by NISPA
- Junior Alex Brudvik was accepted into the 2026 Illinois Journalism Education Association’s All-State Journalism Team
- Freshman Alice Teixeira‘s feature article was awarded “Best of Student News Online”

IHSA Sectionals and State Competition
Barrington placed third out of 12 schools in Sectional 1.
- Junior Hassan Javed placed sixth in sectionals for Feature Writing
- Sophomore Mia Rao placed sixth in sectionals for Editorial Writing and third in sectionals for Newspaper Design (State Qualifier)
- Freshmen Alice Teixeira placed fifth in sectionals for Yearbook Captions and fourth in sectionals for Yearbook Copy
- Junior Alex Brudvik placed fourth in sectionals for Review Writing, was sectional champion for Yearbook Design, and placed fourth in state for Yearbook Design
- Sophomore Paul Kim placed second in sectionals for Headline Writing (state qualifier)
- Junior Alana Zink placed second in Editorial Cartooning (state qualifier)
