Ongoing cheer tryouts take place after school Monday through Thursday

As spring sports finish up and the school year starts coming to an end, fall sports prepare for the upcoming school year. Football, tennis, dance, and cheer are holding tryouts in anticipation for the upcoming fall season and summer camps. For sideline cheer, the process has already begun for next year’s season.

Like many other sports, cheer has had numerous opportunities to prep for team tryouts. Open gyms were offered for returning athletes and incoming freshmen over the course of the past month and serve as a way for athletes to get familiar with the program.

“Open gyms are an opportunity for athletes to learn about our program and the sport,” said Laura Chor, the cheer team coach. “They get a chance to learn drills, tumble, stunt, jump and get to know our coaching staff and program.”

Following the end of the last open gym last Tuesday, April 19, tryouts started on Monday, April 25, and run through Thursday, April 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Athletes will learn a cheer and dance routine to demonstrate the best of their ability. Experience is a great asset but not a requirement to try out and all interested students are highly encouraged to try to participate in the fun team environment.

Athletes can expect to hear back results for who made the team by the last day of tryouts. The students who make the cut will prepare for the numerous summer camps that will train them for their full season in the fall.
