Cookie craze: Ranking the top five cookies

Personally, I think cookies go hard. They’re my all-time favorite dessert, and I stand by that. Plus, you can find them on any dessert sign-up sheet or at any potluck event. A crowd favorite and a good classic, cookies truly make for one of the best desserts.

So, without further ado, here’s the top five cookie flavors, ranked by me, a self-proclaimed cookie connoisseur.

5. Peanut butter cookies

I love peanut butter flavored desserts. Peanut butter is just an all around phenomenal flavor (unless of course, you’re allergic) and they definitely deserve a place in the top five.

My only qualm with peanut butter cookies, however, is the crunchy peanut butter cookies. If you’re a crunchy cookie person, you need to re-evaluate your fundamental beliefs as an individual. Cookies should be soft and chewy.

A soft peanut butter cookie is one of my all time favorite cookies. But the crunchy alternatives solidify its place at number five on my list.

4. Sugar cookies

When I talk about sugar cookies, I’m talking about the grocery store variety. The grocery store frosted sugar cookies are the world’s greatest gift to our society.

They’re like little clouds of saliva-inducing perfection. If you don’t like these cookies, I’m convinced you have bad taste.

Whenever you’ve had a particularly bad day, these are the go-to cookies to turn to. They make any bad day a little bit better.

However, they’re only four on my list because they can be a little much. In the cookie realm, the sugar cookie is a main character for sure. But you can only handle a main character for so long before you need some change. I love a sugar cookie, but it has its limits.

Regardless, they have a solid spot at number four on my list.

3. Chocolate chip cookies

The chocolate chip cookie is a crowd favorite. A good go-to classic, this cookie hits the spot every time. If you need reliability to fall back on, chocolate chip cookies are the way to go.

Some may call this cookie basic, but basic things are popular for a reason. I must admit however, it is basic. You want a cookie that’ll leave you remembering how good it is hours later, and I don’t think a chocolate chip cookie meets that standard.

Overall, the chocolate chip cookie is a good cookie, but it stays in the middle of my list. Great cookie, but I’m waiting for memorable.

2. White chocolate macadamia cookies

These are amazing. I have no complaints about them. None whatsoever.

White chocolate macadamia cookies are the cookie that every other cookie wants to be. I remember trying one for the first time in McDonald’s as a five-year-old. My whole world changed.

White chocolate macadamia cookies have the flavor profile and the creativeness. You’re looking for something memorable? Well, look no further. These cookies have the “it” factor.

The only thing that keeps this cookie at number two is that number one is just a little better. But the white chocolate macadamia cookie has my heart forever and always.

Describe the perfect cookie right now. I’m serious. Do it right now. What do you think of?

For most people, the answer is a soft, chewy cookie with a ton of flavor. What’s a cookie that’s up to those standards every single time? The oatmeal raisin cookie.

An underdog but a winner, it is high time that we as a society realize how phenomenal these chewy, flavor-filled cookies are. For too long we’ve all dissed the oatmeal raisin cookie, calling it the chocolate chip cookie’s ugly stepsister. But no more.

I’m here to set things straight.

Oatmeal raisin cookies are the best cookie hands down.
