Snow days have undergone substantial changes, going from complete days off to now remote E-learning days (students getting work done from home independently). Essentially, the original plan for students post-COVID was getting work done on their own time, ensuring that the District would not have to enact make-up days for the school. But this time, it’s a little different.
These E-learning snow days, which will now feature Zoom, have been made available to students by teachers. Students will now have to complete an assignment in a certain time period, typically within 45-47 minutes. Failure to complete the assignment will result in an Absence for that student, and for seniors, that absence will count towards the maximum of five absences allowed to qualify for SPURS.
Teachers will be on Zoom calls at all times until three in the afternoon to answer any questions students may have about the assignments they were assigned, ensuring that while school is remote, students can still have access to learning materials, and teachers can answer any questions they may have.
